After battling through injuries during Saturday’s third round at the RBC Canadian Open, Brooks Koepka opted not to give it a shot in the final round, ultimately withdrawing from the PGA Tour event on Sunday morning.
The tour announced that the five-time major champion had withdrawn due to a hand injury shortly before his final round tee time. Koepka was six under and seven shots off the lead heading into the final round at TPC Toronto before he retired.
While speaking to the media Saturday afternoon after his third-round 72, Koepka shared details about the injury that caused him discomfort.

“I don’t know what it is. I’m struggling to get the club with my ring finger and little finger, so I can’t get it,” Koepka explained. “So the club is kind of just, my fingers would come loose, it was kind of numb. I don’t know what the deal was, but hopefully we’ll figure it out.”
Koepka also said he had never dealt with this type of injury before it flared up in Canada.

The hand injury could not have come at a worse time for the 36-year-old, with the US Open taking place next week at Shinnecock Hill, the site of Koepka’s second US Open victory of 2018.
Since leaving LIV Golf and returning to the PGA Tour under the Returning Member Program at the start of 2026, Koepka had put together strong results in the lead-up to the year’s third major championship.
In his 11 starts before the Canadian Open, Koepka had six top-20 finishes, including a T12 at the Masters in April.

Koepka’s withdrawal also eliminates the opportunity for him to pick up valuable FedEx Cup points as a non-status player for the remaining signature events on the calendar.
With his history at Shinnecock and consistent play this season, Koepka was among the short list of players who could make noise at the US Open starting Thursday, but now his status appears to be up in the air.
