Caitlin Clark appeared emotionally distraught at the postgame news conference following the Indiana Fever’s 113-96 loss to the Atlanta Dream and archrival Angel Reese.
The superstar kept her head down and spoke in a somber tone as she answered for her team’s second-half collapse, claiming everything her team did “was ugly”. The Fever committed 29 personal fouls in the loss.
“What we did well in the first half was play in transition, spray, find open people. Um, and then it’s really hard to do that when all we do is make mistakes and they score,” Clark said.

Clark also had seven of his team’s 19 turnovers in the game.
“We’ve got to take better care of the ball, and that starts with me,” Clark said.
Between turnovers, Clark also appeared to be rolling her eyes as White spoke to her during the game, as clips of the moment went viral on social media.
White also answered for his team’s foul trouble in the match and did not rule out referees calling them more fouls.

“I think a little bit of both,” White said when asked if the foul trouble can be “fixed” or if it’s “what they’re called.”
“Obviously, there’s been an emphasis on calling a lot of fouls. Freedom of movement has been an emphasis. We’ve seen obnoxious calls go all the way up. Um, you know, I think individually, um, certainly there are things we can do to keep ourselves from being as vulnerable, and collectively there’s some things we can’t do to have each other’s position.”

Clark had several emotional moments throughout the game.
In the first quarter, Clark brought the ball up the floor, and after being brought down near the top of the key by Dream’s Jordin Canada, Reese took a slap at the ball in her hands. Clark took exception to the act and eventually waved Reese off. The exchange came about a minute after Clark drilled a 3-pointer in Reese’s face.
It marked Clark and the Fever’s second loss to Reese’s Dream in three days after the Dream won a Thursday meeting at Indiana 108-101.
The Fever are now 9-7 and continue to play below the expectations the team had during the season.
Clark finished the game with 26 points, three rebounds and seven assists.
