Colin Farrell spills the beans on ‘The Batman Part II’ production

Colin Farrell has confirmed he is weeks away from flying to London to begin filming Batman Part II, and his enthusiasm for the project is hard to contain.

speaks to Colliderthe Irish actor revealed that he will travel to the UK in four or five weeks to reprise his role as Oz Cobb, aka The penguinin director Matt Reeves’ long-awaited sequel to the 2022 film.

His commitment, he acknowledged, is relatively restrained.

“I’m flying to London in four or five weeks. I don’t have much to do about it, but I’m going for four or five weeks. I’ll be there for a couple of weeks. I’m so excited to see it as a fan.”

The last line says a lot.

Farrell’s praise for the script has been consistent and positive across multiple interviews.

“It’s extraordinary,” he said Collideradding that Reeves “just cares so deeply about the stories he tells.”

On Happy Sad Confused podcast, he went even further, calling the script “a masterpiece, kind of a contemporary genre masterpiece. It’s so brilliant, and Robert has been given such a lovely journey to go on and take the audience through.”

He described the script as “tight”, “really really intelligent” and “so deep and detailed” before catching himself.

“I’m saying too much. I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”

Farrell also shed some light on how the narrative ties into his standalone HBO series The penguinnarrator Cartoon that the sequel picks up an issue weeks after the show’s conclusion.

“The death at the end of Batman and the devastation in Gotham opened up a power vacuum that Oz could try to exploit. It was perfect for the parallel eight hours we had. And so Batman Part II will pick up, no matter what, a few weeks after the show ends.”

Batman Part IIwhich also stars Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, is scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
