Dar chairs meeting on improving government efficiency

Recommendations to be submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration, says the ministry

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a meeting of the Committee on Improving Government Efficiency, which finalized actionable recommendations prepared by five sub-working groups, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MoFA).

In a post on X, MoFA said the committee discussed, deliberated and finalized the “recommendations of the five sub-working groups” on restructuring the federal secretariat, upgrading e-office to a decision-making process system, transforming the MS wing, reforming the performance evaluation report (PER) system, and developing a whole approach.

“The recommendations will be presented to the Prime Minister for consideration,” it added.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Petroleum and Information Technology and Telecommunication, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the Federal Secretaries for Cabinet, Establishment, Economic Affairs and Telecommunication and other relevant stakeholders, the ministry added.

On Monday, Dar chaired the fourth meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) follow-up committee to review preparations for Pakistan’s upcoming SCO Council of States (CHS) chairmanship for 2026-27 and the CHS summit to be held in Islamabad in 2027.

Sub-committee briefed the meeting on progress on venue, accommodation, security, finance, media management, transport and logistics of delegations visiting the SCO CHS Summit.

DPM/FM directed the concerned heads of the sub-committees to speed up the work.
