- A boot loop Pixel error is apparently close to being sorted
- Google has a beta update coming to fix the issue
- Meanwhile, more complaints are coming in about another problem
There’s good news and bad news to report regarding Google Pixel phone bugs, with one frustrating problem getting some much-needed attention from Google engineers while another seems to have just started.
The good news first: Google is testing a fix for the bug that has left certain handsets in a boot-loop cycle for the past few weeks, a problem that seemed to start plaguing users right after the March 2026 Pixel Drop.
According to several reports, several Pixel models were unable to boot properly, instead rebooting over and over again. The only real option to escape the cycle has been to do a full reset and start again – which is not ideal.

Now, a user has posted an update (via Android Authority) that is “definitely positive news,” saying there’s a “potential beta update to fix the issue” that will bring back phone functionality without a hard reset. It’s not widely available yet, but it might be soon, and that suggests Google has figured out what’s gone wrong.
Several problems emerge
Just as there is light at the end of the tunnel for a bug, another causes frustration for users. As Android Authority reports, there are now a significant number of complaints about slow and sluggish performance on Pixel phones, which appear to be linked to both the March and April updates.
While the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 phones appear to be the most affected, several different models are mentioned in leaks, going as far back as the Google Pixel 6, which launched in 2021.
Complainants cite “really bad lag” and keyboards that freeze while typing. So far, we don’t have anything official from Google, other than a request for more information, and there doesn’t seem to be a reliable solution yet (besides a hard reset).
Having issues like these keep cropping up isn’t a good look for Google, and they’re issues we’ve seen before with Pixel phones as well. Let’s hope the latest issue can be resolved quickly and the Pixels can remain flawless thereafter.
