English football star Harry Kane calls a round of golf with Trump a ‘surreal experience’

If England win the World Cup and are awarded the Jules Rimet trophy by President Donald Trump, it will not be the first time Harry Kane has met the Commander-in-Chief.

Kane, 32, revealed Friday that he played golf with Trump about a year and a half ago in Florida.

“He invited me to play when I was down in Palm Beach. When the president invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and play golf with him,” Kane said Friday, according to the New York Post.

The English superstar praised Trump’s golf game.

“His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play as well as him when I’m his age, that’s for sure,” Kane said. “Unique experience. Grateful that he invited me down to play with him.”

Kane scored a goal in England’s 3-2 win over Mexico on Sunday and Trump praised him in a post on Truth Social.

“Harry Kane from England is an AMAZING player!!!” Trump wrote.

Trump told reporters that he likes the England striker a lot and also complimented his golf game.

“I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He’s a great golfer too. He’s really great,” Trump told reporters, according to ESPN.

Kane looks set to lead England to a quarter-final win against Norway on Saturday. He has scored six goals in England’s five World Cup games so far and is the country’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Kane has scored 85 goals in 119 games for England in his international career. Meanwhile, England are tasked with slowing down Norway’s Erling Haaland.

Haaland has scored seven goals in Norway’s five games. He has scored in each of the last 14 international competitions for Norway.

The two superstar forwards will look to lead their respective teams to the semifinals when England face Norway at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday.
