FBI raids Virginia Senator Louise Lucas’ office in corruption probe

A team from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently raided the district office of Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas in connection with a corruption investigation.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the AP that the agency claimed to be executing only a court-authorized search warrant in Portsmouth. The senator has yet to publicly respond to the incident.

For the uninitiated, Senator L. Louise Lucas has been a state senator for some 34 years, and she was the first woman and first African-American to serve as the body’s president pro tempore.

The details of the investigation remain under wraps; however, the incident comes amid increased politically charged investigations by the FBI against President Trump’s political opponents.

State Chairman Don Scott expressed deep concern over the sudden investigation.

He said: “Right now there is far more theater and speculation than actual information available to the public.”

In a separate development earlier, the Justice Department charged former FBI Director James Comey with two felonies over a since-deleted social media post.

Comey shared a post with “86 47” on Instagram, which the department deemed a threat to the President of the United States (POTUS).
