Proposes that the social sector allocation has been increased to Rs187 billion from the current financial year’s Rs147 billion.
ISLAMABAD:
The government has proposed a significant increase in social sector spending in the coming financial year, earmarking Rs 187.2 billion. to support poverty reduction and sustainable development initiatives under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework.
According to budget proposals, Rs 70 billion has been earmarked for the SDGs Achievement programme, which aims to improve the welfare of poor and marginalized communities across the country.
The proposed allocation for the social sector has been increased to Rs187 billion from the current financial year’s Rs147 billion.
A total of Rs 78.5 billion has been proposed for the education sector and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). To support underprivileged students nationwide, Rs 3 billion has been earmarked for the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund to provide educational scholarships.
