The video leak on the Heat’s official YouTube channel set off a buzz as the NBA world was already looking for clues as to when King James will announce his decision on free agency.
The Miami Heat’s YouTube page leaked a live video stream titled “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference” scheduled for July 27, 2026.
This ‘introduction’ press would never escape the attention of eagle-eyed users who took screenshots and screenshots.
The next step was for the online speculators to start spinning the rumor mill at full speed, speculating that King James had signed 305.
A Heat spokesman clarified in an interview with Miami Herald reporter Anthony Chiang on Tuesday, July 21, that the upload was “erroneously published” by the team’s social media department for “the possibility that James ultimately decides to join the Heat this offseason,” adding, “There is no validity to the video.”
The post in question was later removed and made private.
Online naysayers have argued over whether it was just a hint of what’s to come or a PR stunt.
King James’ agent and longtime friend, Rich Paul, also addressed NBA commissioner Adam Silver’s concerns earlier Tuesday, saying he “doesn’t know when his client will decide which team he will play for next season.”

Brian Windhorst recently revealed that “I absolutely think Miami is on the board.
“The narrative, the arc, the good story that Bron cares about, the story is in Cleveland, the family is in Golden State, the basketball is in Miami.”
King James informed the Lakers last month that he would play for the 24th season elsewhere.
