The survival show has expanded its mandate a little wider than usual, admitting contestants as far-flung as Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Slovenia and Portugal. These include 24-year-old whitewater kayaking instructor Poldi Waldmann-Moloney and 35-year-old biologist Ziga Ogorelec.
Together with a quartet of Americans and a lone Canadian, they have one goal: to survive as long as they can in the extreme environment of the Richardson Mountains that straddle the Yukon and Canada’s Northwest Territories – preferably without having to be medically evacuated.
They will be completely alone, which means that in addition to exploring the area, building a shelter, foraging, hunting, warding off disease, staying sane and not freezing or starving to death, they must document themselves.
Oh, and the Richardson Mountains are home to grizzly bears, wolves, and elk, and winter is just starting to close in.
