Watch live streams from the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix to find out if George Russell can further close the gap on his teammate in the penultimate race before the summer break.
After winning five races in a row and building a commanding lead in the drivers’ standings, Antonelli has been hampered by reliability issues in two of the last three races, costing him at least one podium at Barcelona and what looked like a sure win at Silverstone. The difference between him and Russell is now only 25 points.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc climbed to the top step of the podium for the first time since 2024, making it two wins from the last three races for the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton is also just seven points behind George Russell in the standings and with Spa’s mix of high and medium speed corners expected to suit Ferrari, the Italian team will be hoping for another strong weekend.
In addition to Mercedes and Ferrari, McLaren is also expected to introduce upgrades that they desperately need. Despite showing impressive pace in qualifying over the past few races, they have failed to convert it into race results, with Lando Norris’ third place at Barcelona their only podium in recent outings. To make matters worse, the Englishman will have a 10-place grid penalty after using too many engine parts.
However, the biggest talking point heading into Belgium surrounds Red Bull and Max Verstappen. A rear wing problem in Britain caused a crash and cost Verstappen a podium, after a similar problem ruined his Q3 in Austria. There were already reports that Verstappen was unhappy with Red Bull before Silverstone and rumors now suggest he could be considering a move away, potentially to McLaren.
