Invincible Season 5 is officially underway. The critically acclaimed Amazon TV Original will return for at least one more outing — but judging by how much story is left to tell from its cartoon namesake, I imagine there will be a few more seasons to come.
I’m getting ahead of myself though. You will know everything there is to know Invincible 5 – and I’m here to give you those details. From its release window and confirmed cast, to its story specifics and the adult animated show’s future, here’s everything you should be aware of heading into Invinciblefifth season.

Amazon verified Invincible season 5 was in development last July.

In the months since that reveal, we’ve learned when it could be released. Speaking to comicbook.com ahead of Invincible season 4’s debut in March, co-creator Robert Kirkman indicated that its follow-up should be ready to go in early 2027. This means it could fall anytime between January and April next year.
With all but one of Invincibles previous seasons airing in February or March, one of those months makes the most sense from a release candidate standpoint. My guess? We’ll see Invincible 5 sometime in March 2027.
Invincible Season 5 Trailer: Is There One?
No – and if past years are anything to go by, we’ll have to wait for New York Comic-Con (NYCC) 2026 for one. Previous editions of NYCC have been the scene of entertaining Burger Mart teasers for the past three seasons, so it makes sense that our first look at Invincible season 5 should come to NYCC 2026 in mid-October.
As for an official trailer, don’t expect to see one until January or February 2027. When some footage from the upcoming season comes online, I’ll update this section.

The above list is not exhaustive. Depending on which comics Season 5’s plot – more on this in the next episode – will draw from, villains including Angstrom Levy, the Technicians, Doc Seismic, Omnipotus, Furnace, Kursk, Volcanikka, Universa and Giant could rejoin its already stacked ensemble.
New additions could be made Invincible season 5’s cast as well, but I’d really be getting into major spoiler territory for the graphic novels if I discuss them. For viewers who haven’t read the source material, I’ll refrain from spoiling those surprises here.
Invincible season 5 story speculation
Major spoilers follow Invincibleup to and including Season 4’s final chapter.
Invincible Season 5’s story synopsis has not been revealed yet. However, last season’s eighth and final episode indicated where things will go next. You can remind yourself what happened in that chapter via my Invincible season 4 finale explained article.
Longtime fans of the graphic novels already know how the overall narrative and supporting stories will play out from this point on. I’ll discuss a few important ones below, so this is your only caveat: full spoilers immediately follow Invincible comics.
One of the main plot threads that Invincible 5 have to pick up on the concerns of Thragg and the remaining Viltrumites. After their homeworld was destroyed, and to Mark’s chagrin, they not only took up residence on Earth, but threatened to decimate the third rock from the Sun if anyone tried to prevent them from co-existing here.
Even if Mark agreed to let them stay – what choice did he really have? — will he end up telling someone that Thragg and company are already planetside? As far as I remember, he doesn’t in the source material, and even though Invincible‘s TV adaptation has occasionally deviated from the comics, I don’t expect that to change.
Either way, Mark’s decision to let the Viltrumites stay on Earth will come back to bite him. No spoilers for what’s in store for the eponymous hero, but let’s just say there’s an incredibly controversial moment in the graphic novels that, if it plays out the same way in this show, will almost certainly surprise viewers who haven’t read the comics.
Meanwhile, on Talescria, Allen – who is now the leader of the Coalition of Planets after the death of Thaedus – must make a choice to use the perfect form of the Scourge Virus or not. Do that and he’ll kill not only Thragg and company, but also Mark, Nolan and Oliver – the latter trio being close friends of his. Decisions, decisions…
There are plenty of other major subplots that need to be revisited and/or resolved as well.
Nolan and Debbie’s fractured relationship requires further investigation, and we have to see if Oliver will be okay after the explosive events of Invincible season 4 episode 7. Plus, we should check back in with the Guardians of the Globe, learn the fate of Rudy ‘Rex’ Connors/Robot and Amanda/Monster Girl after they were captured on the Flaxans’ home planet, and get the latest installment of The Order’s ongoing civil war.
On top of all that, there’s the small matter of continuing the all-original Damien Darkblood story that last season introduced, and countless other new plot threads that Invincible season 5 will serve. Buckle up, folks, because things only get dramatic from here.
Has Invincible Season 6 been announced yet?
No, but I will be stunned if Invincible season 6 is not officially confirmed for the coming months.
In recent years, new seasons of the critically acclaimed R-rated television series have been announced at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). With this year’s edition of the world’s largest comic book convention set to take place again in July, I’d suggest keeping an eye out for a Season 6 renewal around that time.
