Jamie Laing admits he was ‘pretty selfish’ before he became a father

Jamie Laing has shared a heartfelt reflection on life after embracing fatherhood following the birth of his son, Ziggy.

The former Made in Chelsea The 37-year-old star revealed he is balancing the demands of running his business with the day-to-day responsibilities of looking after his newborn after his wife Sophie Habboo gave birth in December, who is seven months old.

Sharing the candid statement, Jamie wrote: ‘I want to be real for a minute. I’m in the trenches right now. Ziggy is 7 months old.

‘And it’s been hard running my business while juggling parenthood while trying to see friends. Harder than I was ever told it would be. Harder than (honestly) I was prepared for.’

Reflecting on what his life was like before parenthood, Jamie revealed that he could get up and do whatever he wanted because his business was his only concern. He said: ‘Before I was a dad I was a bit selfish to be honest haha. I would wake up and do what I wanted. Gym, coffee run, walk.

‘Work would seep into times it shouldn’t – early mornings, late nights, events. My business was all I really had to worry about.

He continued: ‘Now my baby holds a book of my days. He is my first thing and my last thing. And the time in between is spent just cramming in as much as I possibly can.

‘If you too are in the trenches right now, just know you are not alone. It’s mental. But that’s the best kind of mental.’

Alongside his sweet words, Jamie posted a video of some key moments from the first seven months of Ziggy’s life.

Jamie is currently on holiday in Mallorca with Ziggy and his wife Sophie.
