Katy Perry talks motherhood while raising a confident daughter

Katy Perry is embracing her role as a pop superstar — but these days, being Daisy Dove’s mom might be the title she cherishes most.

While celebrating the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris at the Tribeca Festival in New York City, the singer opened up about life on and off stage and revealed how important it is for her daughter to see her thrive as her authentic self.

Perry, who shares 5-year-old Daisy with former partner Orlando Bloom, said she brought her little girl along during the recent Lifetime Tour was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.

“It’s always amazing when I bring my daughter to work,” Perry shared People magazine.

“I think when moms can be their most supportive, authentic selves, that’s always a great template for kids to model. And I’m just happy to model a strong, stable, intelligent, funny, weird woman for my beautiful daughter.”

And if anyone thinks Daisy is shy about sharing her opinions, Perry quickly shut that idea down.

During a post-screening Questions and answerslaughed the singer as she described her daughter’s growing personality, saying, “She’s a force. She tells me exactly what she’s thinking.”

For Perry, parenting is less about perfection and more about setting an example. “I think as moms and dads, we’re just modeling something for our kids, and all we can hope for is that they’ll grow up to be better versions of ourselves — and themselves,” she said.

She added: “I think if I’m out there living my most authentic, free, supported, empowered, smart, sexy life, and she’ll have a pattern to follow, a model to follow.”

With a world tour, a concert film and a fearless daughter to keep her on her toes, Perry seems determined to lead by example — one authentic moment at a time.
