King Charles pleases his grandfather with good news

King Charles has earned a reputation as a doting grandfather who, after four years, is to be reunited with his US-based grandchildren.

While the cases are dealt with behind the scenes, the monarch continues with his job. Charles appeared to have made a grandfather’s day after he sent some positive news his way.

Steven Thompson, who works as a self-employed accountant, had received a letter from Charles saying he would be awarded a BEM [British Empire Medal] in the King’s Birthday Honors for his decades of voluntary work.

The 62-year-old had initially thought it was bad news that he had been caught in a speeding incident that had taken place just days before, but the “official-looking letter” lifted his spirits.

Steven has coached some of the best female athletes for over three decades. He recalled taking his son, Matthew, to Fairwood Waterloo Rugby Club (FWFC) when he was about five years old, which is about 28 years ago now.

And now he proudly shared his “full circle” moment as his grandson, Daniel, plays for the team.

“If somehow in the young age group, I’ve got them hooked and enjoying the sport [then that’s great]” he told Echo. “I’ve had some lovely messages this week saying how much the younger age groups ignited their interest and passion for the sport.”
