- The film will be exclusive to YouTube, with director Markiplier saying he’s “pretty loyal” to the platform
Markiplier’s adaptation of Iron Lung was a huge success, grossing $51.2 million against a budget of $3 million. If you missed the limited theatrical release, or simply want to see it again, you’re in luck.
In an update video titled “Where the hell is Iron Lung…?”, Markiplier acknowledged that it’s been four months since he self-released the film, but said fans would be able to watch it on YouTube starting May 31.
Staying true to its roots, the film won’t be coming to any of the major streaming services, but instead will be available to rent or buy on YouTube Movies.

What is Iron Lung all about?
Iron Lung was adapted from an indie horror game by David Szymanski, a game that Markiplier played on his channel and really enjoyed. It marks his directorial debut, with Szymanski starring in a cameo role.
The premise is simple and is set in one claustrophobic location. A convict named Simon is sealed inside a submarine where he explores a sea of blood believed to hold vital resources needed to sustain human life after a cataclysmic event called The Quiet Rapture. If he succeeds in his mission, he will get his freedom.
Sounds simple enough, right? Unfortunately, this sea and the vessel Simon pilots are far scarier than he could have imagined, making for a tense watch.
Although we mostly follow Markiplier as Simon, there is a great supporting cast including Troy Baker, Elle LaMont, fellow YouTuber jacksepticeye and Rahul Kohli.
