Meghan Markle again became the subject of discussion after she refused to be called a duchess on a TV show.
On Sunday, the Duchess of Sussex’s pre-recorded episode of MasterChef Australia aired. Dressed in an all-black outfit, she was the “mystery guest judge.”
One of the judges, Poh Ling Yeow, gave the contestants a surprise by inviting the former Suits actress to join them. She asked Meghan, “Welcome. Shall I call you Duchess?”
But Prince Harry’s wife simply said: “Oh, call me Meghan. Absolutely, yes.”
Meghan, who previously insisted on being called Duchess on her Netflix show, sparked reactions with her U-turn.
Fans react to the new controversy. One wrote on social media: “Glad she reminded us she’s a duchess.” Another wrote: “This is surprising.”
“Wait doesn’t she want to be called royal? Make up your mind,” wrote another.
The other big moment of the show was Prince Harry’s unexpected appearance via video call. He said hello to everyone present at the set.
