RAWALPINDI:
The National Highways and Motorway Police has imposed a ban on vehicles carrying animals on highways during Eidul Azha.
According to officials, overloaded, unfit and improperly loaded vehicles transporting animals often cause traffic accidents and congestion.
Therefore, such vehicles will be diverted to alternate routes instead of being allowed on highways. Authorities said that in the past, vehicles carrying animals have been involved in several dangerous accidents, resulting in significant financial losses and losses.
To ensure effective implementation, police have requested Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police departments to set up check posts at highway access points and near cattle markets.
Officials stated that the measure was taken to ensure the safety of commuters traveling on highways during the Eid season. As Eidul Azha approaches, people rush to cattle markets to buy sacrificial animals, which are transported to their homes in vans and mini trucks.
