Navy chief promises modernization of warfare techniques, tools to consolidate maritime influence

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf on Wednesday called for a reassessment of traditional warfighting concepts to keep pace with the evolution of modern conflicts, underscoring the importance of technological advances and strategic adaptability to deal with new maritime security challenges.

The Navy chief said this while addressing the participants of the 55th Pakistan Navy Staff Course during his visit to the Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore, noted a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Emphasizing the new trends in warfare, the Navy chief recognized the importance of a technologically capable and intellectually capable military workforce.

He highlighted the ‘evolving nature’ of modern conflicts and new maritime security challenges, stressing the importance of ‘adaptive strategies’ to effectively deal with both conventional and non-conventional threats.

Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Ashraf also reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to innovation and indigenization. He also examined unity among the factions of the armed services.

He urged the trainees to enhance their strategic understanding and operational foresight to meet future security challenges.

“The Indian Ocean region remains fluid and contested,” the maritime chief stressed, stressing the changing geopolitical dynamics and power rivalry affecting the regional security environment.

In his concluding remarks, Admiral Ashraf congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the PN Staff Course and advised them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, analytical rigor and innovation in their future assignments.
