The court gave the NCCIA one last opportunity to file a detailed response before the next hearing
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) from obstructing the official duties of contract workers who have approached the court to be allowed to get their services.
The court also upheld its preliminary order barring the NCCIA from initiating any disciplinary action against the petitioners and gave the agency a final opportunity to file a detailed, paragraph-by-paragraph response by July 30.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan was hearing the petition filed by NCCIA contract employees seeking regularization of their services. Advocates Haroon Rashid, Manzoor Ahmed Jajja and others appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
During the hearing, the NCCIA sought additional time to file its response.
The petitioners’ counsel opposed the request, arguing that since the first hearing on February 13, the NCCIA had been given several opportunities to file a response, but had sought adjournment at each hearing.
The court gave the NCCIA one last opportunity to file a detailed response before the next hearing.
It directed that if the NCCIA failed to file a response, the case would be decided based on the available evidence.
