Today’s theme didn’t leave much room for guesswork, as it was naturally about angling.
The speed with which one attacked this game then depended on how many words you knew associated with the world of fishing, and as I know almost none, this was limited to the really obvious ones of HOOK, REEL and spangram TACKLE.
After a hint gave me the fourth word, a word I really should have known in LURE, I made my way around the board at the pace of a day on the river bank snoozing and waiting for a catch.

Strands is the NYT’s not-so-new-anymore word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now a full-fledged member of NYT’s game stable that’s been running for a year and can be played on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
