A new NEW Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone – meaning some people always play ‘today’s game’ while others play ‘yesterday’s’. If you’re looking for the Saturday puzzle instead then click here: NEW Strand’s Tips and Answers for Saturday, July 11 (Game #860).

NEW Strands today (game #861) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #861, are…
- STUP
- DISTRICT
- BODEGA
- UNDERGROUND
- TAXI
- BAGEL
- DELI
- SPANGRAM: EMPIRESTATE
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
It took me a while to see BAGEL and DELI, possibly because I don’t uniquely associate them with New York, but this little delay aside today’s game was a breeze.
I even managed to spot the spangram before any words – EMPIRESTATE looms from top to bottom of the board, just like the magnificent building – and gave myself the Spangram First 100 times mark.
As Alicia Keys sang, “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” – although this may not apply if your dream is good word search.
Yesterday’s NYT Strand’s Answer (Saturday, July 11, Game #860)
- EAST
- SOUP
- MILK
- TUNA
- PEPPER
- SALT
- NOODLES
- SPANGRAM: CASSEROLE
