Novak Djokovic rants at a cameraman during a heated match in the third round at the French Open on Friday, May 29.
The incident happened on a scorching hot day at Roland Garros, where Djokovic has taken a two-set lead over Joao Fonseca. A cameraman was stationed nearby filming the Serbian star, prompting Djokovic to react heatedly.
He snapped, “Give me some space!”
The 39-year-old demanded personal space as he searched through his bag.
This event represents the latest round of frustration on Djokovic’s part over his feelings regarding invasive media attention. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has previously complained about how the sporting community views tennis players as “animals in a zoo” due to the endless camera attention on them. Djokovic feels players can’t get away from cameras to express themselves.
Several tennis players have been seen frustrated by the invasion of privacy. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek and American star Coco Gauff have also shown similar frustration in the past over lack of film limits.
The French Open has yet to begin this. Djokovic is scheduled to play his fourth-round match on Sunday, May 31.
