- OpenAI launches online and digital training for small businesses
- Partner plugins are also launched to automate common workflows
- ChatGPT Work, Codex now has 10 million users
OpenAI has launched a dedicated ChatGPT Small Business program to help SMBs automate routine work and increase productivity without the teams and resources that larger companies have access to.
The scheme is primarily an educational process and will focus on training, personal academies and practical guidance. OpenAI will also launch dedicated agents and partnerships to support small business workflows.
The recently launched ChatGPT Work platform also features the software vendor pushing its latest tool through the program, claiming that ChatGPT Work and Codex are now said to have a combined 10 million users.
OpenAI focuses on small businesses
After gaining significant public interest after the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 and spending many months and years improving the models, the company continued to target certain areas such as finance and law. This latest step expands its focus to a broader category of companies across all domains, but more importantly, it unlocks massive volume for OpenAI. SMBs represent around 99% of the private sector globally.
Some of the support offered includes webinars demonstrating how to use ChatGPT Work, quick technical guides and other interactive guides. In-person events will also be held across the US through the OpenAI Academy.
Select plugins and skills are also on the cards to handle common SMB workflows, with initial partners including Dropbox, Shopify, Intuit, Slack, and Wix.
“Small businesses can choose the right level of intelligence model for the job at hand, and together give lean teams more flexibility to balance quality, speed and cost,” OpenAI wrote.
GPT-5.6 and ChatGPT Work are now available to virtually all subscribers, with access via the web, desktop app, or mobile app varying slightly depending on whether you’re a paying customer.
