New app will be introduced so that citizens can submit complaints and queries online
ISLAMABAD:
The Directorate of Passports and Immigration, in consultation with IT experts, has carried out a comprehensive review of passport application processing, from submission to issuance, as part of efforts to modernize the system in accordance with contemporary requirements.
The audit work was completed ahead of an announcement to upgrade the passport and immigration processing framework with a focus on efficiency, transparency and faster delivery of public services.
The decision was taken during an important meeting chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports MuhammadAli Randhawa where important reforms aimed at digital transformation were approved.
It was agreed at the meeting that digital complaints centers should be established to ensure speedy resolution of public complaints, alongside a wider effort to digitize the immigration and passport system.
Under the planned reforms, a new app will be introduced to allow citizens to submit complaints and inquiries online, enabling faster response times and reducing reliance on manual processes. The initiative aims to improve accessibility and convenience for applicants through technology-driven solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, DG Passport said that the department is committed to provide better facilities to the public through modern technology, adding that work is on to expedite plans for 24-hour active digital services.
