LAHORE:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing a meeting on power sector reforms on Saturday, directed the authorities concerned to formulate a comprehensive strategy to stabilize electricity prices.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to provide relief to both industrial and private power consumers and directed officials concerned to take concrete action in this regard. He also called for significant improvements in the power transmission system to reduce line losses.
Highlighting the importance of modernization, the Prime Minister emphasized the use of advanced technology in the energy sector and ordered the promotion of renewable energy projects to alleviate the country’s energy shortage. He further emphasized the need to improve the digital facilities to make the payment of the electricity bill more convenient for the consumers.
The Prime Minister ordered continuation of strict measures against electricity theft and reiterated that uninterrupted power supply is essential to promote industrial growth. He stated that providing relief to domestic consumers remains one of the government’s top priorities.
He added that reforms in the energy sector would be implemented taking into account the wider interests of the public and the industry. During the meeting, officials presented recommendations regarding electricity consumption for both household users and the industrial sector.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik Ak, Minister for Special Minister for Harooni, Senior Minister and Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs for Harooni. officials from relevant institutions.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday and briefed him on the security situation in the country, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
According to the PMO statement, Naqvi met the premier in Lahore where he briefed him about the security situation in the country and the measures taken in this regard.
The interior minister also informed the premier about the security arrangements for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final scheduled to be held in Lahore tomorrow (Sunday).
Prime Minister Shehbaz directed Naqvi to make the best possible arrangements for players, spectators and citizens.
