ISLAMABAD:

Police have informed an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad that they have initiated Proposed Offender (PO) cases against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI leaders Junaid Akbar and Abdul Ghani Afridi in a case related to the November 26, 2024 incidents.

Islamabad Police has filed a report in court in a case registered at Margalla Police Station. They have filed the report in response to the court’s notice of non-filing of the plea against the accused, including Afridi, Akbar and Ghani.

According to the report submitted by the Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad Police, non-release warrants for the accused were obtained in accordance with the court’s order dated June 23, 2026. But despite repeated efforts, the warrants could not be executed, the report said.

The police informed the court that following the non-execution of the warrants, proceedings had been initiated to declare the accused declared offenders in accordance with the law.

The report further stated that once the proclaimed offender case is concluded, the preparation of the challenge under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code will enter its final stage.

The police assured the court that the case would be filed immediately after its conclusion. According to the report, there had been no negligence, delay or lack of effort at any point in the investigation or trial of the case.
