Amazon has confirmed when Rings of power season 3 premieres on Prime Video.
During its 2026 Upfronts presentation yesterday (May 11), Amazon announced its The Lord of the Rings prequel returns to our screens on Wednesday 11 November. No other details were given about the impending launch, such as how many episodes will fall on the aforementioned date. However, we’ve been treated to a glimpse of the show’s next chapter via a new image, which you can see below:

We shouldn’t be surprised by that Rings of power will return before the end of the year. After all, film adaptation wrapped Rings of power season 3 last December, so a 12-month post-production cycle, even for a series of this scale, is plenty of time to ensure it would be ready to air before 2027 arrives.
There has also been plenty of other news surrounding one of the biggest Prime Video TV Originals over the past year.
Initially, Stranger Things‘ Jamie Campbell-Bower and Cardiac arresterEddie Marsan has come along Rings of power for Season 3 in what are expected to be significant roles. That pair was joined by three more cast additions Rings of Power 3 when filming began in June 2025.
What we know about its plot, The Lord of the Rings TV series will feature a big time jump after last season’s finale. According to this season’s official brochure, it takes place at the height of the war between the elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to create the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war, bind all peoples to his will – and eventually rule all of Middle-earth”. Then we can finally expect The One Ring to be shaped by Charlie Vickers’ Big Bad.
What does The Rings of Power season 3 first image tell us about the story?
Possible spoilers follow Rings of power season 3.
True, not much. In fact, it only shows Vickers’ Sauron standing in a dimly lit room wearing Morgoth’s crown, which he acquired in Season 2’s final episode. To remind yourself of what happened in that chapter, read my Rings of power season 2 final explained piece.
While the photo doesn’t confirm much about this season’s plot, we can still analyze it and speculate what’s going on here. My best guess? This is where Sauron finally forges the One Ring and/or the formidable, fear-inducing armor he wears during the climactic battle known as The Last Alliance of Men and Elves, which takes place at the end of the Second Age of Middle-earth.
Granted, it’s far too early in the timeline for that hugely significant conflict to take place in Season 3. Nevertheless, as Prime Video has already confirmed that Sauron will be forging the One Ring this season, the above image appears to show the Dark Lord in a location looking close to Mount Doom, also where he’s crafting his prized and magical trinket to try and reign in Sauron’s attempted tyrant. Midgard.
