Prince Harry ‘caught off guard’ when King Charles visited the US

Prince Harry was particularly surprised and confused when asked about his father’s upcoming state visit to the US on Monday.

The Duke of Sussex had been in Ukraine for two days to raise awareness of important causes such as the impact of the war on Ukraine and Iran. He was also asked about his role as acting royal and what it means for him to carry out his ‘non-royal’ duties.

In a conversation with journalist Chris Ship, Harry had shared his honest thoughts on the conflicts that have been going on in the world and how he had urged the US president to work harder to promote peace rather than waging war.

Towards the end of the discussion, Chris asked Harry if his remarks would affect his father’s visit to Trump. Once it is settled, Harry assures that it would have no impact on the royal relationship with Trump.

“No, no, I don’t think so,” he said. “Not at all.”

Harry’s words still carry weight as he is still the King’s second son, even though he is not a working royal.

Although some royal supporters sided with Harry in the argument, saying he can speak his mind.

“I don’t know who needs to hear this but Harry is a private citizen. He can go where he wants and talk about what he wants. You can only call him a royal when it suits you to shut him up,” wrote one user on X.

Although it remains to be seen how the king’s visit will be handled, the shooting incident at the White House followed on Saturday.

Follow-ups are being taken to ensure the monarch’s safety. It is uncertain whether it will go according to plan or whether some events will be omitted.
