Princess Kate was understood to be gushing as she shared a congratulations after Britain was given a big reason to be proud.
The Princess of Wales took to social media to mark a “memorable day” at Wimbledon as Arthur Fery becomes the second wild card in Open Era history to reach the men’s Wimbledon semi-finals. He was the first Briton to do so.
“Congratulations to Arthur Fery on becoming the first British wildcard to reach the semi-finals of the Gentlemen’s Singles in the Open Era, a fantastic achievement that has inspired so many,” Catherine wrote. “I wish you all the best for the next round.”
She signed off with her initials at the end, indicating that she wrote the message herself.
This big win came as a fitting distraction for the royal family, who have been embroiled in some Prince Harry drama of late.
The Duke of Sussex’s visit to Britain had been fraught with problems in the weeks leading up to it. There was uncertainty about whether Meghan and the children would make an appearance, including the idea of a meeting between Prince William and his estranged brother.
However, it seems that while the palace deals with the issues, the Welsh have kept their focus on work and their own family.
Princess Kate, who is the official Royal Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), appeared at Wimbledon on Monday after completing the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the cancer organisation.
