The Federal Budget 2026-27 has brought great relief to the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the public transport sector with a significant increase in subsidy for Metro Bus and Green Electric Bus services.

Public transport funding in the twin cities has been significantly increased in the 2026-27 federal budget.

Compared to Rs3 billion in the previous financial year, the subsidy has been raised to Rs7.3 billion for the new financial year.

The subsidy will apply to both the Metrobus service and the Green Electric Bus service, enabling further improvement in the range of affordable and quality transport facilities for commuters.
