Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor officially moved into Marsh Farm last week after the Palace was urged to speed up the move, particularly as there is still an ongoing police investigation.
According to a real estate expert, the renovations, which included major upgrading to modern features in the house such as a cable connection, security fencing and CCTV cameras, would have totaled a six-figure sum.
“It’s not cheap to refurbish a country property to that standard,” said expert Elliot Castle The mirror. “Once you factor in interiors, structural updates and advanced security, costs can quickly run into the six-figure range, especially on an estate.”
He explained that Marsh Farm was specially prepared for Andrew and is “unlikely to be a short stop”.
The disgraced ex-prince was arrested back in February after the investigation into Epstein files led police to suspect Andrew of misconduct in public office. Meanwhile, the sex abuse allegations are also being investigated by other agencies.
Despite Andrew’s serious investigation, he has a permanent place to live, but his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson is reportedly struggling to find a home. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are keeping their distance as sources suggest Fergie will not be allowed to stay in their place due to public and royal pressure.
Therefore, it is becoming a real possibility that Fergie, who has blamed her ex-husband for their unhappiness, can swallow her pride and knock on his door again to make a big offer.
The expert believes Fergie could well rejoin Andrew after being banished from the Royal Lodge earlier this year.
“It would not be unusual from a property point of view for former partners to share a residence, especially where security and routine are involved. Whether she joins him is personal, but it is certainly possible,” the expert said.
He also pointed out that it would also depend on whether a “consent” from Buckingham Palace is required to allow Fergie to live at Andrew’s new residence.
Although, with the way her circumstances stand, Fergie might well entertain the idea, even if she has to give up the prospect of writing a tale about the royals or Andrew and revealing more hidden secrets. And perhaps the palace could only give permission to be able to keep an eye on the former Duchess of York.
