- The first full trailer for Lioness season 3 is out
- Taylor Sheridan’s series returns to Paramount+ on August 2nd
- Zoe Saldaña, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman all return
We’ve only gone a few weeks without a new episode of a Taylor Sheridan show to stream, but the first full trailer for Lioness season 3 is out (which you can watch below).
Premiering on Paramount+ on August 2, the main cast, including Zoe Saldaña, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman, is set to return.
As the official synopsis explains, “Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces swirl around her world. Patterns emerge where they shouldn’t, names disappear and paths rearrange.
“Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”
While the first teaser trailer already gave us a 60-second glimpse of what’s to come, it’s neither Joe’s new dilemmas nor the action to come that’s actually the most impressive part of what’s to come.
Opinion: Lioness Season 3 retaining her A-List supporting cast says a lot about Taylor Sheridan
Look at
After the success of Avatar, Lioness is probably Saldaña’s most well-known and established project. But for Freeman and Kidman, it’s a drop in a much wider ocean.
There’s a long-running joke that Kidman must be the busiest woman working in the business, as she can’t seem to go more than a few months without having a new project to promote.
Only this year includes it Scarpetta, Margo has money problems, Lioness season 3, and Practical magic 2. On top of this, she just finished filming Scarpetta season 2, and Big Little Lies season 3 is being teased like there’s no tomorrow.
Keeping Kidman’s involvement at all, let alone how much we expect to see her in new episodes, is nothing short of a miracle. The same can be said about Freeman, but for different reasons — the man certainly does not need to work, so the project selection becomes picky. He is Morgan Freeman after all.
Honestly, I’m incredibly impressed that both are coming back for Lioness season 3 with seemingly healthy screen time, and that speaks volumes for Taylor Sheridan as creator. Names like these two will only keep popping up if everything across the board is of the highest quality, from script to experience on stage.
Sheridan turns in her A-List castings from Demi Moore Farmer to Michelle Pfeiffer in Madison. Obviously, there is a good reason for that.
