- Gothic, Gothic 2and Gothic 3 coming to modern Xbox and PlayStation consoles
- The three games are to be released during the year
- Those who pre-order the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake get instant access to the original game
All three classic Gothic titles are finally releasing on PlayStation and Xbox this year.
The first of the legendary role-playing games (RPGs), Gothic classicdrops in July 2026. It’s a massive experience with more than 50 hours of gameplay and was a pretty big deal when it first launched back in 2001. It had a uniquely reactive world, filled with characters who adhered to their own schedules – get up in the morning, go to work, eat meals and interact with each other.
You play as a prisoner trapped in a remote mining colony that has been cut off from the outside world. Tasked with delivering a letter to the leader of one of the colony’s many warring factions. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Developer CD Projekt Red has cited the old game as a major source of inspiration, and I’d recommend it to any fan of the genre, provided they’re willing to put up with a little sleaze.

The original game was made by the now-defunct studio Piranha Bytes, but an expansive remake (rather unimaginatively titled Gothic 1 Remake) led by new developer Alkimia Interactive is in the works and will be released on June 5, 2026.
Pre-orders recently went live, and those who place one on consoles will get instant access Gothic classic as a bonus — skip the wait and experience the original game ahead of the remake.
Gothic‘s two sequels are also being re-released for Xbox and PlayStation as Gothic 2 Complete Classic and Gothic 3 Classic. They will be launched on September 29, 2026 and November 24, 2026, respectively.
Gothic 2 Complete Classic includes both the original 2002 game and its massive Night of the Raven expansion, giving you over a hundred hours of content to explore. Gothic 3 Classic has also been upgraded compared to its first iteration from 2006, with a community-made ‘patch 1.75’ included from the start, which offers a host of quality-of-life improvements.
