Early leaks referred to it as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, but recently we heard that it might just launch as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, with the direct successor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 now being called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Nu er der dog dukket en anden mulighed op.
But there are reasons to doubt this name, since the pictures are probably real, there is a high chance that the products they show come from China.
As one commenter on Reddit claimed: “These are fake cases made by Chinese companies selling through ebay, temu, shein, ali express etc… they copy Samsung boxes well but they don’t know the new fold name widely so you can see it on the box where it just says new fold. Samsung would never do that.”
Another Reddit poster agreed, writing, “I’ve seen cases like this pop up all over Aliexpress and almost all of them are knockoffs with the Samsung logo on them.”
And to top it all off, there are reportedly ‘Kindsuit’ cases, which is a style of case that Samsung offered for last year’s flagship phones, but not for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. Så der er nogen tvivl om, hvorvidt virksomhedens kommende foldbare enheder ville få denne stil af etui.
On the other hand, questionable name aside, these look like they could be official Samsung covers, so we can’t completely rule out the possibility that this will be the wider foldable’s official name.
But it would seem a strange choice, since subsequent wide models will no longer be ‘new’ in the same sense, so it would quickly become a clumsy naming scheme.
