- Garmin has revealed Garmin Venu X1, a surprise new Premium Smartwatch
- It costs a fierce $ 799.99 / £ 679.99 / AU $ 1,499
- Its 2-inch square screen is larger than the Apple Watch Ultra 2-but It is said to last up to eight days instead of Apple Watch’s 36 hours
Surprise! Garmin has revealed the Garmin Venu X1, an “Ultrathin” smartwatch with a massive 2-inch AMOLED screen and up to eight days of battery life.
The Garmin Venu X1 seems to be an Apple Watch Ultra 2 competitor, with its massive square AMOLED screen (larger than Ultra’s 1.9-inch offer) to showcase full color cards to make sure you can navigate adventures with ease, custom watch surfaces and what seems to be a redesigned boundary.
A built-in speaker and microphonarray allows you to take calls on-Wrist while connected to your phone and use simple voice commands as ‘set a timer’ or ‘Start a running activity’ even while offline.
It also packs 32 GB of internal memory, presumably for on-watch music, and Garmin’s updated Elevate V5 pulse sensor, most recently used on the Garmin Forerunner 570 and 970.
This is definitely a watch ready for the big outdoors while containing lifestyle elements such as these voice commands and multiple font sizes, making messages much easier to receive and navigate the giant screen.
The Garmin Venu series is always aimed at tightening the line between a ‘real’ Smartwatch extension to your phone and Garmin’s classic dedicated fitness joint case, and has made it admirable in the past: Garmin Venu 3 became rank venu sq before it.
As you could expect from a Premium GPS watch from Garmin, Garmin Venu X1 does not come cheap and cost $ 799.99 / £ 679.99 / AU $ 1,499. Maybe not quite random, this is just around the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s price point.
It is available now in two colors, black and moss, and includes the Garmin’s 24mm Comfortfit nylon band.
