Druski takes aim at Stevie Wonder in BET Awards opener, sparks online frenzy

‘We have Stevie Wonder in the building. Put his net worth up there, Druksi said

Druski Desbordes, known for his signature witty banter, created a buzz at the 2026 Black Entertainment Awards on Sunday night, June 28, 2026.

The 2026 BET Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Druski in his opening monologue was nothing short of celebrity roasts, viral sketch shout-outs and a definite jab at Stevie Wonder that got everyone talking.

The American comedian opened the dazzling night of shows by bringing back his beloved Collect & Praise preacher persona.

This persona of Druski, a fictional pastor, started a buzz online to solicit donations from his churchgoers.

But this Druski took aim at some of the well-to-do stars in attendance at BET 2026.

He took a jab at them before offering his fake collection prayer saying, “We have so many stars in the building whose net worth is blessed and whom God has ordained to bless me.”

Druski first took aim at director Tyler Perry.

“Put Tyler Perry’s net worth up there. Oh, my God! Glory! $1.4 billion! We’re pulling the net worth tonight,” Druski said.

“Hey, man! I don’t care if it comes from you, Madea, or the crazy black woman. Can someone donate, amen?”

The jabs took the next level when Druski addressed music icon Stevie Wonder.

“Who else in the building? Who else? We’ve got Stevie Wonder in the building. Put his net worth up there.”

As Wonder’s estimated net worth of $20 million flashed on the screen, the CG graphics also featured a braille character next to his snap, setting up the gag.

“200 million dollars!” Druski said before a beat.

“Hey, hey! Shut up. He can’t see it. Shut up.”

The moment he dropped that gag, the audience burst into laughter as he continued with the gag.

“That check is in braille right there. That’s braille! That check is signed, sealed, delivered. Damn right. Amen.”
