Jaafar Jackson reacts to ‘Michael’ becoming the highest grossing biopic

‘Michael’ surpasses ‘Oppenheimer’ as the highest-grossing film worldwide

Jaafar Jackson follows in his uncle Michael Jackson’s footsteps as he makes entertainment history.

The breakout actor who portrayed the King of Pop in a new biopic just achieved a major career milestone as Michael officially becomes the highest-grossing in history, surpassing Elvis, Oppenheimer, Bohemian Rhapsody and more.

“Highest grossing biopic of all time,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, June 28.

“Wow!! Thank you all so much,” the 29-year-old continued. “This record, this achievement. It was my dream goal for this film and you all made it come true.”

Jaafar then made a heartfelt prediction about how his late uncle would have felt about the honor.

“I promise you Michael is up there laughing at this. This one is for him,” he concluded.

Published on April 24, 2026, Michael was an instant hit. The film took home $217 million globally in its first week and $977 million so far.

The film also launched Jaafar to superstardom, and he opened up about what the film meant to him while presenting an award at the BET Awards over the weekend.

“We are so grateful for the love you all showed our movie. You packed the theaters. We are truly humbled. Your support means the world to the Jackson family,” he said.
