UNITED NATIONS:
Amid a dangerous escalation in the war in Ukraine following a wave of widespread Russian attacks, Pakistan has called for an “immediate and complete” cessation of hostilities between the two sides to bring the conflict to an early end.
Addressing a session of the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stressed the need to protect millions of people whose lives and livelihoods have been severely disrupted by the ongoing war.
“The latest escalation demonstrates once again the necessity of a peaceful solution,” Ambassador Ahmad told the UNSC.
