Sindh announces four-day Eidul Azha holidays

The Sindh government on Friday announced four public holidays due to Eidul Azha next week.

According to the announcement, public holidays will be observed throughout the province from May 26 to May 29, with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday declared public holidays.

“Government of Sindh hereby declares 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th May 2026 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) as public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Azha (9th to 12th Zil Hajj-1447 AH) throughout Sindh province,” it said in a statement.

It added that public holidays would apply to all government, semi-government and municipal institutions across the province. But employees in essential services, as well as staff involved in budget preparation, will remain exempt from the holiday plan.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee had earlier announced that the moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH had been sighted in the country, adding that Eidul Azha would be observed on May 27.

Following the announcement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a three-day holiday on the occasion of Eidul Azha from May 26 to 28 (Tuesday to Thursday).
