Pollen levels are rising again, bringing with it the familiar wave of hay fever symptoms, and the royal family has had its share of unexpected sneeze moments.
Photographs over the years have captured members of the monarchy battling sudden sneezes in the most public of settings.
Among those believed to be affected by hay fever are King Charles, Queen Camilla and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, all of whom have previously been linked to seasonal allergies.
One of the most recent moments came during Trooping the Color 2026, when Prince George appeared to fight a sneeze while standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the RAF flyover.
The young prince quickly regained his composure as the Princess of Wales looked at him gently and offered a warm “bless you” before reassuring her, saying: “I’m fine.”
The balcony scene followed a similar moment in 2024 when Prince Louis was seen sneezing during the King’s birthday celebrations.
One of the most widely publicized royal sneezing moments dates back to 2018, during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in St. George’s Chapel. Then three-year-old Princess Charlotte, who appeared as a flower girl, was pictured sneezing as she held her mum Kate’s hand on the chapel steps.
Prince Harry himself has not been spared either, with cameras catching him at the 2017 Audi Polo Challenge briefly sneezing mid-run as he crossed the field with Prince William, which instantly broke his calm stride.
Elsewhere, the Duchess of Edinburgh was seen covering a sneeze during a visit to the Royal Kitchen Garden at Hampton Court Palace in 2014, adding another light-hearted moment to the royal archives.
