You might soon be able to buy luxury Gucci-branded Android XR smart glasses, and we dread to think what they’ll cost

  • The CEO of Gucci’s parent company has said the brand is likely to launch smart glasses next year
  • These will reportedly be made in collaboration with Google, which likely means they’ll run Android XR
  • Nothing else is known about them, but they are certainly extremely expensive

The world may soon be flooded with smart glasses, as not only companies like Google, Samsung, Xreal and Meta have some on the way pretty soon – along with Apple, probably – but now it looks like Gucci is too.

This is according to Luca de Meo, CEO of Gucci owner Kering, speaking to Pakinomist, specifically saying they will be released “probably next year, 2027.”

The smart glasses will be made in collaboration with Google, so they will presumably run Android XR – an operating system that is so far only available on the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, but which will also be used by smart glasses including the Xreal Project Aura, Samsung Galaxy Glasses and some unnamed Google specifications.
